The project manager will develop a commercialisation strategy in consultation with the inventors.
The strategy stage of the process will take into account:
- IP position, level of novelty, IP protection strategy and ownership position.
- Target markets based on current market information.
- Additional work required, including initial proof of concept / confirmation or outcomes, as well as further market research or business planning which might be funded through the Pathfinder program.
- Commercial partners - the project manager will investigate the commercial entities operating within the target market and will assist in the production of marketing material to establish initial contact and links with potential commercial partners.

Assess the optimal route to market based on:
- existing technology and IP in the field;
- appropriate business models to generate revenue;
- routes to market and end-user profiles to meet technology needs; and
- barriers to entry and the commercialisation required to overcome this.
