Senior Project Manager Commercialisation
Life Sciences Mr Simon Handford
Simon Handford joined the Office of Industry and Innovation in March 2002. He has a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Plymouth and research and project management experience from many years in industry. As an Experimental Officer in ICI and Zeneca Agrochemicals Simon spent several years researching microbial natural product production and the development and validation of methods for high through put screening for agrochemical activity.
Simon moved to Australia in 1997 and worked for Faulding Healthcare in Adelaide, project managing the introduction of new healthcare and pharmaceutical products to be contract manufactured. The role gave Simon a broad understanding of the industry in Australia and the opportunity to develop commercial skills as new products were launched to market. | |
Returning to the UK mid-2000, Simon took a position with Quintiles, a global contract pharmaceutical organisation. He was responsible for project managing patient recruitment into clinical trials, technical support of web-based clinical trials and customer liaison and business development.
Simon is now enjoying being back in Australia where he is currently responsible for commercialising life sciences intellectual property through licensing opportunities, start-ups and joint ventures.
